You can deploy materials in 3DEXPERIENCE and after they deployed you can use them in SOLIDWORKS.
Before you begin: Install the Derived Format Converter
app. For more information, see Social and Collaborative | 3D Product Validation |
Derived Format Converter: Installing Derived Format Converter.
-
Import the materials from the 3D XML files. For more information, see
Simulation | Multidiscipline and Multiscale | Material Definition | Importing
and Exporting Materials | Importing Materials | Importing a Default Set of
Materials.
-
Run the utilities located at the below locations to create a SOLIDWORKS resource (
3DEXPERIENCE
Materials.sldmat
) in 3DEXPERIENCE.
For Design with SOLIDWORKS, the utility by default is located at:
C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B<release
number>xcadconnectors\win_b64\USWC\SaveSLDMATinto3DEXPERIENCE.exe
For example: C:\Program Files\Dassault
Systemes\B<424>xcadconnectors\win_b64\USWC\SaveSLDMATinto3DEXPERIENCE.exe
.
Here B424
is the release number.
For SOLIDWORKS Connected, the utility by default is located
at:
C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\SOLIDWORKS
3DEXPERIENCE\win_b64\USWC\SaveSLDMATinto3DEXPERIENCE.exe
The material librarian must be connected to the right collaborative space so that the
3DEXPERIENCE Materials.sldmat
file is accessible to all the
designers. If the right collaborative space is not chosen, use the Transfer
Ownership command to change it. If the materials database in 3DEXPERIENCE gets updated, run the utility again. This replaces
the existing 3DEXPERIENCE Materials.sldmat
file with the updated
file.
Notes:
- If the Derived Format Converter is not installed, the
utility fails.
- If you are not connected to 3DEXPERIENCE, the login dialog box appears to enter your
credentials.
- If the
3DEXPERIENCE Materials.sldmat
generation succeeds or
fails, appropriate messages are displayed.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Materials.sldmat
is created
as a XCADResource object. You can manage the lifecycle of this resource, revise it, and
release it.
