Associating Actions to a Knowledge Dialog Box

After creating a knowledge dialog box, you can associate knowledge items and actions with this dialog.

Note: To view a sample, import the sample file located in win_b64\startup\Knowledgeware\UXChoosersSample in the installation folder.

Create Attributes

You can create knowledge items.

  1. In the Knowledge Items tab, click Attribute Creation . The InitSkate dialog box opens.
    1. Enter the name of the attribute, SkateL in our example.
    2. Click Pointer in the Attribute's type area.
    3. Click OK when done.
  2. Click Launch attribute creation dialog.
    The InitSkate dialog box opens
  3. Enter the name of the attribute, SkateW in our example. Click OK when done.
  4. Click Attribute Creation .
  5. Enter the name of the attribute, TargetMass in our example.
  6. Click Launch attribute creation dialog. The InitSkate dialog box opens
    1. Enter the name of the attribute, Usage in our example.
    2. Select Output in the Quality scrolling list.
    3. Click Parameter in the Attribute's type area and select String in the Type scrolling list.
    4. Click OK when done.

Create an Action

You can create an action associated with the dialog box.

  1. Click the Events tab and select Init in the Events available for the InitSkateProcess.
  2. Click Choose an action or create a new one or double-click the empty Actions on event cell. The InitSkate Action definition for Init dialog box opens. Click OK.
    The Action Editor appears.
  3. Enter the following script in the Action editor, and click OK when done.
    Inputs\EditSkateL\EditedParameter = SkateL
Inputs\EditSkateW\EditedParameter = SkateW
Inputs\EditTargetMass\EditedParameter = TargetMass

  4. Click the Events tab and select the line containing the OK event.
  5. Click Choose an action or create a new one or double-click the empty Actions on event cell. The InitSkate Action definition for OK dialog box opens. Click OK.
    The Action Editor opens.
  6. Enter the following script in the Action editor, and click OK when done.

  • The SelectedIndices attribute is available for the Parameter Chooser and the Feature Chooser widgets. This attribute contains the list of the selected items indexes.

  • If the ProposedItems attribute is filled with a list of ValuePointers, the ChosenItems attribute is also a list of ValuePointers, meaning that the parameter can be accessed and modified. You can therefore write the following script in EKL:
