Tree

In the tree, objects are represented by a symbol. An additional symbol is sometimes added to display the status of an object. The symbols that are specific to Product Structure Design are listed below.

For more information about the tree, see 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: Tree and 3D Area.

This page discusses:

Expand and Collapse Nodes

On tree nodes (including the root node), you can click these symbols to display or collapse the child level objects:

  • +: to expand the first child level of the node
  • -: to collapse the first child level of the node
Notes:
  • These symbols appear only if there are children under this node.
  • Expand and collapse is applied to the child objects only, not to the sublevels. For example, if you collapse a root node where child nodes are expanded, and then you expand the root node again, the child nodes are still expanded.
Tip: To automatically expand the inserted object when adding a product, select Expand mode after open in Me > Preferences. For more information, see Customizing Preferences and Product Visualization.

Symbols for Objects

A symbol is displayed in the tree to identify a product or representation node.

Product

Product
An assembly.

3D Part
A physical object. By default, a 3D part contains a 3D shape. Other representations can be added in a 3D part. A 3D part can be contained in a product.

Representation

3D Shape
A 3D representation.

Drawing
A 2D representation.

Mark up
Technological data associated to an assembly (that is, Knowledge, DMU...).

Publication

All publications are gathered under a Publication node in the tree.

Publication
A publication can be created on a product or a representation.

Masks for Status

In the tree, a mask can be added to an object to describe its status. For more information, see Tree Masks.

Mask on Representation

Important: To display a mask, select the convenient option in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Product Structure Design > Display. For more information, see Native Apps Preferences Guide: Display.

Mask on Product

Important: To display a mask in the tree on a product node, select the Relations Status (on Product) option in Me > Preferences > Common Preferences > General > > 3D Shape Infrastructure. For more information, see Native Apps Preferences Guide: General.

Masks on Publication

Masks are added by default.
