Inserting an Existing Product

You can insert an existing product along with its representations in an assembly. You can then position it using the Robot.

Important:
  • To insert geometric data created in a product, use this command; Insert Existing Product.
  • To insert geometric data created in a 3D part, use these commands:
    • Insert Existing 3D Part
    • Insert Existing Product , if the Unified Insert Existing Product Command option is selected in Me > Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Product Structure Design. For more information, see Commands.
  • When you insert an existing product or 3D part in another product, you must check the design range compatibility.

Why should you be careful when copying, cutting, or inserting partially loaded products?
  1. From the Product Modification section of the action bar, click Insert Existing Product .

Tip: You can also select this command from the context menu.

Tip: To repeat this operation, make sure that no product has been selected beforehand, double-click the command, and select the product. To end the repeat mode, press Esc.

The repeat mode is only available:

    • For a monoselection
    • Within the selected product

A Filter symbol appears under your pointer. The Content Chooser lets you select an object:

    • In the tree or in the work area.
    • In the Search Results panel. For more information, see the 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps User's Guide.
    • In a library. For this, you must first open an existing library: from the Tools section of the action bar, click Library Browser .

For more information, see Design IP Classification User's Guide: Working with Libraries.

Tip: If the Unified Insert Existing Product Command option is selected in Me > Preferences, you can insert any type of object from the Content Chooser. For more information, see Commands.

  2. Select a product.

Note: This product must be loaded in session.

The selected product is added to the assembly.

Tip: If you select a replacing representation from the Search panel, an option is proposed to load the product without its children. This option appears if the Do not expand structure when loading data in Replace commands option is selected in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Product Structure Design > Product Visualization. For more information, see Product Visualization.
  3. Move the Robot to change the product instance position.
  4. From the context toolbar, select one of these commands:
    CommandDescription
Move to origin Restores the origin position of the product instance.
Important: The Move to origin command is not available for multiselection.
Move to Robot Last Position Moves the instance to the last position of the Robot.
Move to Same Place Moves the instance to the same position as the source object.

Note: By default, the position is aligned with the last position of the Robot.

To change this default behavior, clear the Move to the Robot last position option in Me > Preferences > 3D Modeling > Product Structure Design > Commands. For more information, see Commands.

  5. To accept the position, click an empty space or press Esc.
