Prepared faces are the faces that create the void if required for the basic weld shape to fit in.

These faces are as shown below: Face Selection RulesTo create a weld feature with prepared faces, the face selection sequence matters. The rules are as follows:
Continuous Welds (Prepared Parts) Without Broad Root FaceYou can create continuous V-butt welds with prepared parts by selecting adjacent faces of the parts. 1: Three faces of Part1 are selected as subelements to define the first support. 2: The corresponding three faces on Part2 are selected as the subelements of the second support. ![]() When faces are in pairs (that is, there is the same number of subelements inside each
