User Preferences

By choosing your own Preferences, you can customize how you use Engineering Release. The options that you select do not affect other users. To choose preferences, click Preferences at the top of the screen.

Preference Option Description
Credentials Select the collaborative space and role for the login session.
Allow Creation of Electronic Items Lets you create printed circuit board assemblies and other electronic items or add new ones to a product structure. For more information, see Creating Electronic Items.
Show create panel After selecting this option, select a CAD Mastership (SOLIDWORKS, CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE) whenever you create a product. If you clear this option, the app uses the default CAD Mastership, 3DEXPERIENCE.
Show the xCAD's "Not in BOM" components In some CAD tools, such as SOLIDWORKS, you can select components to exclude from an assembly BOM. When you open the assembly as a product in Engineering Release, select "Show the xCAD's "Not in BOM" components" to display the excluded components as child products. Clear this option to hide the excluded components.
Show 'Specification Documents' in information panel Display specifications in the Information panel instead of in the child product list.
Use index Mode Select this option to enable switching between Index mode and Authoring mode. Otherwise, the system switches between modes as required. For more information, see About Index Mode.
Auto switch from Authoring mode to Index mode After a user creates or updates their data, the index acceleration is disabled to reflect the user’s latest changes (performance decreases). This field controls the duration between the user’s most recent updates in the app and when the app resumes using the index, accelerating the performance of the application. The mean time that you select can be based on the typical time required to index your data.
Apply 'Work under evolution' action on model revision set Indicate when to apply the work under evolution to the open model revision:
  • Ask me each time
  • Always
  • Never
Terminal Item

Select a child product attribute that defines one or more terminal items on child products. Children of products that have the selected attribute are not shown or exported when you select "Flattened" in the Components list.

By default, "Not Selected (Leaf Item)" is selected. This option indicates that all child products will be shown and exported. For information, see Define Attributes as Terminal Items.
Display Work Under Select this option to display on the screen.
Work Under Position Select where onscreen to display . Free lets you move it anywhere. Other options let you anchor the icon to a specified corner of the screen.
Preferred Unit - Mass Select a unit of mass in which all core materials are to be listed. Values that you enter for mass are converted to the preferred unit as required.
Preferred Unit - Volume Select a unit of volume in which all core materials are to be listed. Values that you enter for volume are converted to the preferred unit as required.
