Model Definition

Model Definition enables companies to manage the development of products with high variability in a simple manner. Product managers can define variants and options at the enterprise level, then use them to manage the variability of all the company's models. Product managers can also define specific rules for each model to ensure model variability consistency and to drive product configuration definition.

Model Definition enables you to:

  • Create and manage an enterprise variability dictionary consisting of variants, variant values, option groups, and options.
  • Create and manage model versions.
  • Define expression rules and matrix rules for model versions.
  • Create and complete product configurations for model versions.
  • Add documents and specifications to model versions.
  • Associate manufacturing plans and requirements with model versions.

Model Definition shares business objects with Variant Management and Variant Analysis and Reuse. You can view and work with variants, variant values, option groups, options, models, product configurations, manufacturing plans, and requirements created in any of these apps and in any of the other apps.
