What's New

This page describes recent changes in Model Definition.

This page discusses:

R2022x FD01 (FP.2205)

Inserting a New Revision Between Existing Model Versions

You can now insert a new revision between existing, unreleased model versions.
Benefits: You can now insert a new revision between two existing model versions and continue to edit both of them.
For more information, see Insert a New Revision Between Existing Revisions

Bulk Editing Variability of Product Configurations

You can now use the Edit action in the Content panel to bulk edit the variability of one or more product configurations at once.
Benefits: You can now bulk edit product configuration variability.
For more information, see Bulk Editing Variability of Product Configurations

Displaying Custom Attributes for Product Configurations and Rules

You can now use the Custom Views dialog box to display custom attributes as columns on the Product Configuration and Rules tabs.
Benefits: You can now view custom attributes for product configurations and rules.
For more information, see Display Custom Attributes

Loading and Filtering the 3D View of Product Configurations

The 3D view of a product configuration now has a status bar that shows the status of view rendering with progressive loading.
The status bar also provides the ability to pause and resume the loading. Whenever there is change in variant value or option selection or filtering, the 3D view refreshes to reflect the respective change.
Benefits: The progressive loading improves the performance of 3D view rendering and filtering of the product configuration.
For more information, see Viewing the 3D Model of a Product Configuration

Defining Matrix and Expression Rules

User interface improvements to criteria selection, data display, and icons now make it easier to define and edit matrix and expression rules.

The following improvements are available for matrix rules and expression rules:

  • The Model Version Variability pane is now the same for matrix rules and expression rules.
  • The action to open the Model Version Variability pane for expression rules is now Open Variability.
  • You can now click Add All in the pane toolbar to add all of the selected criteria to the rule at once, or you can click Add All in the row for a variant or option group to add it and all of its child variant values or options to the rule at once.
  • Once you add criteria to a rule, it is removed from the Model Version Variability pane.

The following improvements are available in matrix rules:

  • For both driving and constrained criteria, you can now select multiple variants and option groups, then click Remove, to remove them all at once.
  • You can now view and select only valid criteria in the matrix rule's Model Version Variability pane. Option groups are not listed for selection as driving criteria since they are not valid in that context.
  • You cannot add or remove matrix rule criteria once the rule is Released or Obsolete.
  • The sequence number is now displayed for variants and option groups in the driving and constrained criteria data grids. Sorting by this column is not persisted on refresh.

Benefits: New user interface improvements make it easier to work with the Model Version Variability pane and to define and edit rules.
For more information, see Creating or Editing Expression Rules Creating or Editing a Matrix Rule
