Creating a Connection Weld Component

This task explains how to create a connection weld component.

Before you begin: Specify the Steel Connection PLM Modeling Definition resource in Data Setup.
  1. From the Component section of the action bar, click Connection Weld .
  2. In the Name box, enter a name for the weld component.
    The weld component is created.
  3. Create a connection assembly and add the connection weld component to the connection assembly. For more information, see Creating a Regular Connection Assembly.
  4. Specify the elements connected by the weld. For more information, see Specifying Connected Elements.
  5. In the Regular Connection Assembly dialog box, select the weld component's cell, click , and select Edit Component .
  6. Specify the weld geometry.

    Edge Select the edges of the connected elements in the 3D area.

    The possible edges of the components are highlighted.
    User-defined Edge Select user-edges on the connected elements.
    Intersection (Open Curve) Select an open intersection curve created by the intersection of the connected elements.
    Intersection (Closed Curve) Select a closed intersection curve created by the intersection of the connected elements.
  7. Click OK.
