Discussions Page for an Object

You can list discussions for objects. For example, everyone with Read access to a Bookmark, Sub Bookmark, or project can list discussions for it.

Required access roles: If you have access to an object, you have access to discussions about that object. However, if the creator of a discussion has removed your access to the discussion, that discussion is not included in your list.

To access this page:

  1. Open the item you want to discuss.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Discussions.

Columns

Column Name Description
If the icon shows in the row, you are subscribed to that discussion.
Discussion The subject of the first message posted for the thread. To read the messages in a discussion thread, click its Name. See Discussion Thread Page.
Last Message The date the last message was posted to the discussion thread.
Visibility Shows Public or Private. For more information, see Access to Messages.
Replies The number of replies posted to the first message, including all replies to replies.
Owner The person who started the discussion by posting the first message.
Opens the discussion in a separate window.

Create Public Discussion Starts a new public discussion about this object. Public discussions can be viewed by any user with access to the item, including external users (such as suppliers). A notification is sent to anyone who has subscribed to the "New Discussion" event for that object.

If you want to enter a link to a web page, you can enter the full web address, such as http://www.3ds.com.

Not available for IP Classification discussions.

You must have the Contributor access role to create discussions.

Create Private Discussion Starts a new private discussion about this object. A notification is sent to anyone who has subscribed to the "New Discussion" event for that object.

Create Discussion Only shows for external users. External users can only create public discussions.

Subscribe Subscribes to the discussion, then click OK to confirm. For some Collaboration and Approvals objects, a dialog box opens.

 Subscriptions
Unsubscribe Unsubscribes from the discussion. Click OK to confirm. -
Delete Deletes a checked discussion thread, click OK to confirm. You can only delete discussions you created and that have no replies.
