Creating a Task in the Asynchronous Mode

You can create a workplace where you can share data with your designers. You can now work in project in the asynchronous mode and structure a workflow for you and the designers.

Create a Task

You can create a task.

  1. In the top bar, select Add > Content.
    The New Content dialog box appears.
  2. Select Collaborative Design Task Reference.
    The Collaborative Design Task / Collab Design Task Reference dialog box opens.
  3. Fill in the fields presented.

    Tips:
    • Use the Definition field to explain what the task will be used for.
    • Use the Description field to give instructions to designers you work with.
    • Select the True option if you want the task to be supervised and checked by the project creator when completed. When selecting the option, a warning message appears at the end of the task (when designers are about to promote their tasks) so that they remember to have their tasks supervised and checked by the project creator.

  4. Click OK.

Your new task is created and you can see it in the Navigation window.

Insert a Task

You can insert a task.

Insert a task in your project:
  • Method 1
    1. Right-click Input : Main Task and select Insert New Collaborative Main Task....

      The Collaborative Design Task / Collab Design Task Reference dialog box opens.

    2. Fill in the fields presented.
      Tips:
      • Use the Definition field to explain the purpose of the task.
      • Use the Description field to give instructions to the designers.
      • Select the True option if you want the task to be supervised and checked by the project creator when completed. When selecting the option, a warning message appears at the end of the task (when designers are about to promote their tasks) so that they remember to have their tasks supervised and checked by the project creator.
    3. Click OK.

      The new task is created and attached to the project.

  • Method 2
    1. Right-click Input : Main Task and select Insert existing Collaborative Main Task.

      The Search for Main Task to associate to the current Project dialog box opens.

    2. Proceed to a classical search to search for the existing task you want to attach to your project as main task.
    3. Click OK.

      Your existing task is attached to your project as main task.

Remove a Connection Between a Project and a Main Task

You can remove the connection between the project and the main task. This is helpful if you want to change it by a new one or by the same one but modified.

  1. Right-click Input : Main Task and select Remove connection between current Project and Main Task....

    Important: Choosing this option just breaks the link between the current project and the main task. The main task is still persistent in the data base.
    Warning:
    • If a main task is already attached to the project, you cannot add another main task. You first need to remove the connection between the old main task and the current project before attaching another main task.
    • The remove action is available only if there is not any active project in the PLMWorkplace. If there is an active project in the PLMWorkplace, a message appears indicating you that you need to log you out from the PLMWorkplace before removing the connection:
      • Click OK to confirm.

        You are logged out and you can launch the command.

      • Click Cancel to stay in the PLMWorkplace.

        The remove cannot be launched.

    • When removing a connection, all the outputs (briefcases) of the tasks contained in the project are removed too. The cloned representation you get does not contain the deleted briefcases anymore.

  2. Click OK.

The new main task is not attached to the current project anymore.
