Solids and Top Surfaces from Plies Section

The Solids and Top Surfaces from Plies section of the action bar provides commands for creating solids and top surfaces. It is available in Composites Design.

Iso-Thickness Areas
Creates or edits iso-thickness areas for a quicker and easier design.
Use following options to enhance the creation of top surfaces:
  • Iso-Thickness Area: Creates the ITA group only inside a selected contour.
  • No Thickness Area: Includes areas with no plies in the ITA group.
  • Extended Limits (Auto, or with selection of Extended Limit and Start EOP): Extends the top surface to be used as reference surface or for material excess.
See Creating or Editing Iso-Thickness Areas.
Iso-Thickness Junction Wizard
Uses a wizard to create, check, validate junction lines, and find locations where they are missing or incorrect.
See Using the Iso-Thickness Junction Wizard.
Iso-Thickness Junction Lines
Creates iso-thickness junction lines manually from iso-thickness areas.
See Creating Iso-Thickness Junction Lines Manually.
Solid From Iso-Thickness Areas
Creates a solid from iso-thickness areas
Use following options to enhance the creation of top surfaces:
  • Iso-Thickness Area: Creates the ITA group only inside a selected contour.
  • No Thickness Area: Includes areas with no plies in the ITA group.
  • Extended Limits (Auto, or with selection of Extended Limit and Start EOP): Extends the top surface to be used as reference surface or for material excess.
See Creating the Solid from Iso-thickness Areas.
Solid From Plies
Creates an exact solid, possibly with colored faces, or a polygon with a network of curves.
See Creating a Solid From Plies.
Elevate Solid or Top Surface
Uses the definition of variable cores (contour and height) to elevate a top surface or a solid created from iso-thickness areas.
See Taking Variable Cores into Account in Solids or Top Surfaces.
Top Surface From Virtual Stacking
Creates a top surface from virtual stackings.
See Creating a Top Surface from the Virtual Stackings.
