Markup Section

The Markup section of the action bar provides commands for reviewing and annotating existing models.

Markup
Creates a markup linked to a product, part, or 2D drawing in session. If several root products, parts, or 2D drawings are loaded in session, select one in the Markup dialog box.
Managing Markups
Slide
Captures a specific state of the markups, displaying sections, measurements, annotations, etc.

Formats
Opens the format edit mode. If there is no format created in the loaded markup, a new format is created.

Arrow
Creates an arrow to draw attention to a particular part or portion of a product.
  1. Click an object or in the 3D area to position the tip of the arrow.
  2. Use the manipulators on the arrow to define the orientation and approximate size of the arrow.
  3. To position its anchor point precisely, drag the arrow. You can use the highlighted parts as visual clues.
  4. Customize the color or transparency of the arrow using the options available in the context toolbar. Click the background to close the context toolbar.

Measure

3D Compare
Compares two 3D objects visually.

This command is available only on desktops and when a product or a part is loaded in the session.

2D Compare
Visually compares the geometries of two drawing sheets from two different drawings or diagram layouts.

This command is available only on desktops and when a drawing/layout sheet or a file containing a drawing/layout sheet is loaded in the session.

Generate Issue
Generates an issue. The markup is attached to this issue.

Flyout for Circle

Circle
Circles items to draw attention to a particular part or portion of a product.
  1. Click on an object or in the 3D area to position the center of the circle.
  2. Drag the manipulator on the circle's border to resize it, and move its center point to reposition it.
  3. Customize the color or transparency of the circle using the options available in the context toolbar. Click the background to close the context toolbar.
Rectangle
Creates a rectangle enclosing selected items to draw attention to a particular part or portion of a product.
  1. Click on an object or in the 3D area to position the center of the rectangle.
  2. Drag the manipulator on the rectangle’s border to resize it, and move its center point to reposition it.
  3. Customize the color or transparency of the rectangle using the options available in the context toolbar. Click the background to close the context toolbar.
Freehand
You can draw freehand markers.
  1. Select either the annotate or the highlight mode.
  2. Select one of the available colors.
  3. Roughly draw the marker of the required shape.
  4. Press Esc to create the marker.

Flyout for Text

Text
Adds text, linked to a particular part or portion of a product. This marker changes its position according to the changes in the viewpoint.
  1. Click on an object or in the 3D area.
  2. Edit the text as required.
  3. Drag the annotation to position it precisely.
  4. Customize the annotation using the options available in the context toolbar. Click the background to close the context toolbar.

Note: The default text for this type of marker is set as the name of the feature recognized at the point selected for the marker creation. If no feature is detected at the selected point, no default text is added.
Picture
Inserts a picture, linked to a particular part or portion of a product. This marker changes its position according to the changes in the viewpoint.
Click to position the anchor point of the picture, and then either take a picture with your webcam, or browse to select an existing picture. Then, use the manipulators and the context toolbar to customize the position and appearance of this annotation.
2D Text
Adds a text marker that is not linked to any object. This marker does not change its position according to the changes in the viewpoint.
  1. Click a geometrical element or the background.
  2. Edit the text as required.
  3. Drag the annotation to position it precisely.
  4. Customize the annotation using the options available in the context toolbar. Click the background to close the context toolbar.

Note: The default text for this type of marker is set as the name of the feature recognized at the point selected for the marker creation. If no feature is detected at the selected point, no default text is added.
2D Picture
Inserts a picture that is not linked to any object. This marker does not change its position according to the changes in the viewpoint.
Click a geometrical element or the background to position the anchor point of the picture, and then either take a picture with your webcam, or browse to select an existing picture. Then, use the manipulators and the context toolbar to customize the position and appearance of this annotation.

Flyout for Measure
Measure
Measures different parameters of an object such as coordinates of a point, area of surface, angle between two objects and distance between selected objects.

Thickness
Measures the thickness of items.

Click the surface of the item whose thickness you want to measure. Hovering over surfaces displays a preview of items' thickness, and highlights the surfaces involved in the measurement.

Flyout for Section

Section
Cuts through objects using a section plane, to see and access details inside the object, and to measure hidden items.

In the context toolbar, choose options to customize the section (cut side, orientation, viewpoint, etc.).

  • To rotate the plane, drag its edges.
  • To resize the plane, drag its corners.
  • To position the plane on a specific surface of the object, drag the blue central sphere towards that surface.
  • To translate the plane, drag its surface, or use the slider if available.
Sectioning Items
Hide or Show Section Plane
Toggles the visibility of the section planes already created, without affecting the visibility of the section plane that is being created.
This lets you see cut elements more clearly and access items to measure more easily.

PDF Markup Specific Commands

Comment
Lets you provide textual information linked to text, marker, page, and an area on that page.
Previous Comment
Navigates you to the previous comment in the comments panel.

From the first comment, the command navigates you to the last comment.

Next Comment
Navigates you to the next comment in the comments panel.

From the last comment, the command navigates you to the first comment.
