About Versioning and Dependencies of Behavior Libraries and Modelica Behaviors

The commands New Library PLM Revision and Modelica Versions and Dependencies handles all versioning and dependencies for behavior libraries.

Important: Do not use the standard versioning command New Revision from the Collaborative Lifecycle app to version behavior libraries - this command do not handle the Modelica attribute Library Version.

With the commands New Library PLM Revision and Modelica Versions and Dependencies , you can do the following with the selected libraries:

Tip: If you have versioning issues in a Modelica library, consider using the Versioning Assistant. The Versioning Assistant includes also the above commands.

• With the New Library PLM Revision command, you can create a new PLM revision of the library, and at the same time a new Modelica version. To create a new Modelica version means to modify the Modelica attribute Library Version. This corresponds to an annotation (version="1.0") tag in the Modelica text of the library.
• With the command Modelica Versions and Dependencies , you can:
  • Modify the Modelica version of the selected libraries.
  • Modify the dependencies (library versions to be used in the library). This corresponds to the 'uses' Modelica clause.

  Important: If you want to store the changes as a new library revision with a new Modelica version, you must first create a new revision by the command New Library PLM Revision . If you use only the command Modelica Version and Dependencies , the previous file is overwritten in the database when saving the new file.

Tip: To see where a given Dymola behavior library is used, you can use the Relations. For more information, see Finding Where a Modelica Library is Used.

For functional and logical Modelica behaviors, the command Modelica Versions and Dependencies is used to handle dependencies. Versioning of behaviors cannot be handled by this command.

With the Modelica Versions and Dependencies command, you can modify the dependencies of selected functional or logical Modelica behaviors (the library versions to be used in the behaviors).

Tip: If you have versioning issues in a Modelica behavior, consider using the Versioning Assistant. The Versioning Assistant includes also this command.

The Modelica attribute Library Version is not applicable to behaviors.

Concerning revision, you cannot create a new revision for functional or logical behaviors directly, they are versioned by the enclosing functional or logical reference. To manage new revisions of functional or logical references, you can apply the Collaborative Lifecycle app on the Search Results panel to access the command New Revision from the Lifecycle section of the action bar. Other commands are available as well.
