Setting Up the Environment for Multi-Spindle Turning Machining

You can set up the environment for Multi-spindle Turning Machining.

  1. Double-click the Generic Machine in the Activities Process tree.
    • Part Operation: Multi-Slide Lathe machine
      • Manufacturing Program.1
      • Turning Tool Change.1
        • External Roughing
      • Turning Tool Change.2
        • Drilling.1
        • Swap to Counter Spindle
      • Turning Tool Change.3
        • Drilling.6 CS
  2. Set the following parameters in the Generic Machine dialog box:
    • Reference machining axis system
    • Design parts and rough stock elements, which allows material removal simulation later.
  3. Click Generic Machine .

The Generic Machine dialog box appears.

  4. Click Mill-Turn Machine to initialize the machine parameters.
  5. Select the Spindle tab.

The existing spindle is the Main spindle and the reference machining axis system defined on the Generic Machine is assigned to the main spindle.

The tool path points shown in APT output are with respect to Generic Machine axis system in spindle plane. You can also show tool path points shown in APT output with respect to turret axis system. For more information, please refer to the Creating a Part Operation.

Note: When the spindle is selected in the Spindles list of Spindle tab, the corresponding spindle and the associated spindle axis system are highlighted in the 3D view. See 3D Feature for Spindles

  6. Click Add Spindle.
    1. Enter Counter Spindle as the name for the new spindle.

      The spindle number increments automatically.

    2. Click Part Axis System .
    3. Select a suitable Counter Spindle Part Axis System in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to assign it to the counter spindle.
  7. Select the Turret tab.

Note: When the turret is selected in the Turrets list of Turret tab, the corresponding turret and the associated turret axis system are highlighted in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. See 3D Feature for Turrets

  8. Check that:
    • There is just one turret called Turret (Multi-spindle machine) defined on the machine.
    • The Turning Tool Axis System is specified as shown above.
    • The origin of the Turning Tool Axis System is used for the Tool Change Point.
  9. Click Numerical Control tab.
    1. Make sure that the PPTableSampleMChannel.pptable PP words table is referenced in Post Processor words table.
  10. Click OK to confirm your modifications to the Generic Machine dialog box.
  11. Click OK to confirm your modifications to the Generic Machine dialog box.
