Structured Document Management Access to Content

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is a collaborative environment for managing your business processes based on defined responsibilities and content lifecycles that provide secure access to content.

This page discusses:

Content Categories

Depending on your access role, you can create and manage the following types of content with Structured Document Editor. You can search for content with 3DSearch. For more information, see Using 3DSearch.

Content Type Category
Document maps

Topics

Resources (such as images)

Definition

The content you can access and the tasks you can perform depend on your access role. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: Content Categories.

Access Roles

Structured Document Editor uses the 3DEXPERIENCE platform 3DSpace baseline access roles that your business administrator assigns to you. The table below describes the level of access for design tasks.

Access Role Description
Viewer Can view the document map and open topics. Modify access to topics depends on the topic's access controls.
Author Can read, create, and modify document maps and topics.
Leader
  • Can add members to repositories.
  • Can assign members the access to manage repositories.
  • Can read all Private published documents.
Repository Manager
  • Can create repositories.
  • Can add and remove repository managers.

The access roles provide hierarchical access. For the baseline access roles, Leader includes all access that an Author has (who has all access that a Viewer has) plus additional specific accesses. In the above table, an access role has all the accesses of the roles that appear above it.
