You create topics in the context of a document map. After saving a topic, you can
later remove it from the document map.
-
Do one of the following:
- In the map toolbar, click
Insert Topic.
- Right-click the root of the map and select Insert Topic,
then
New Topic.
- Right-click a topic in the map and select the Insert
Topic option for where you want to add the topic, then select
New Topic.
-
In the field in the map editor, enter a title for the topic and press
Enter.
If you selected the map, the topic is added at the bottom of any first-level topics.
If you selected an existing topic, the new topic is added indented after the selected
topic.
The app loads
an empty topic in the topic editor, showing the topic title. To edit the title, use the
topic editor.
-
In the topic editor, add content as required.
For more information, see Adding Topic Content.
-
Click Save
.
You do not enter a file name when saving topics. The app uses
an internal, unique naming convention to store the topic, and uses the title when
searching for topics. Titles are not unique and you could have multiple topics with the
same title, however, each topic has a unique internal identifier so one topic cannot
overwrite another.
After creating and saving a topic, you can add it to any
number of maps. You can open the topic to edit it, if someone else does not have it locked,
using any of the provided tools.
