Managing Impact Analysis

You can create and manage impact analysis objects. If a change request (CR) was created with the detailed analysis type, you must create and complete impact analysis for the CR. If a CR was created with the simple analysis type, an impact analysis object is created automatically for the CR.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Open the required change request and open the Impact Analysis tab.

Create Impact Analysis

You can create impact analysis for a CR for which the analysis type is specified as detailed.

Required access role: Leader

  1. From the Impact Analysis tab toolbar, click New Impact Analysis.
  2. Enter the following details.

    Field Description
    Credentials If you are assigned multiple credentials, they are shown in this list. Select a credential.
    Title Enter a title for the impact analysis.
    Description Describe the details of the impact analysis.

  3. Click Create and Close.

The impact analysis is created.

Cancel Impact Analysis

You can cancel an impact analysis.

Required access role: Leader

  1. Select the impact analysis that you want to cancel.
  2. Click Cancel.
  3. Enter the reason for canceling the impact analysis and click Done.

The impact analysis is canceled.

Delete Impact Analysis

You can delete an impact analysis.

Required access role: Leader

  1. Select the impact analysis that you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete.
    A message appears notifying that the impact analysis will be deleted permanently.
  3. Click OK.

The impact analysis is deleted.

Open Impact Analysis

You can open an impact analysis and view the details.

Select an impact analysis and click Information.
The following tabs are shown in the information panel.

Analysis Basis Shows the objects that are selected for analysis. Managing Analysis Basis
Impacted Item Lists the objects that are identified as impacted items. Managing Impacted Items
Change Action Lists the change actions that are created to track the changes made to the impacted items. Creating Change Actions
Members Shows the persons assigned to the impact analysis. Adding Assignees
Attachments Lists the documents attached to the impact analysis. Attachments
Relations Shows the objects related to the impact analysis. Relations
Comments Shows the comments added to the object. Comments

Modify Impact Analysis Details

You can modify the details of impact analysis objects that you have created for the CR.

  1. Select the required impact analysis.
  2. From the identity card, click Information.
  3. Click the Properties tab.
  4. Click Edit mode.
  5. Modify the following fields, as required.
    • Title
    • Description
    • Benefit Impact
    • Cost Impact
    • Validation Effort
    • Risk Impact
    • Implementation Effort
  6. Click Save.

The updated details are saved. You can also right-click a column name and select Custom Views to view, add more attributes including extension attributes.
