Connecting Segments Geometrically

You can connect segments electrically using a geometrical connection. Connecting segments geometrically allows you to create a geometrical constraint between the connected objets.

When you connect segments geometrically, the object you select for the connection is added to the route of the branch.

This task describes how to create a geometrical connection between a segment and a connection point. The scenario is identical for the creation of a geometrical connection between two segments.

Before you begin: Select the Electrical link driven by geometry option in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Electrical and Electronic Systems > Electrical 3D Design > Branch section.

For more information, see Segment Connection.

Connecting Segments Distantly
  1. From the Branch section of the action bar, click Connect Segments .
  2. Hover over the ends of a segment to display its extremities, and then click the segment to select an extremity.
  3. Hover over a device to display its connection points.
  4. Click a label to select a connection point.

Tip: If you click the device, the closest connection point is selected.

    • The segment extremity is geometrically connected to the connection point.
    • The device is added to the route of the branch, and the branch shape is updated accordingly.
  5. Optional: To check the connectivity of your network, click Link Review from the standard area of the action bar.
