About the Copilot

The Copilot Assistant provides a visual feedback to improve the design of orthogonal and parallel portions when you design a branch.

Important: The Copilot Assistant is only available while working with branches designed with the Cornered Polyline build mode. For more information about build modes, see Inserting an Electrical Branch Geometry and First Branch.

Activation and Deactivation

The Copilot Assistant can be activated from the Branch Properties panel.

When working in Cornered Polyline, the activation button for the Copilot Assistant is docked at the top right corner of the Branch Properties panel. The following icon is displayed: .

Clicking the button activates the assistant and the icon is highlighted: . Once activated, you can click the button again to deactivate the assistant.

Note: The activation button is not displayed if the Branch Properties panel is docked or extracted.

Scope

Working with the assistant impacts the following modes:

Visual Feedback

Two elements in the 3D area ease the creation of orthogonal and parallel portions: the Robot and an orthogonal symbol.

Robot

When the Copilot Assistant is activated, the Robot is always displayed with a white bullet in its center to indicate that the Robot can be dragged.

Dragging the Robot on a reference branch allows to modify the orientation of the Robot. The direction of the branch on which the Robot is snapped is retrieved and the W/Z axis of the Robot is aligned with the branch curve.

This visual feedback allows you to:

  • Create a branch portion which is parallel to the reference branch
  • Move a passing point following the direction of the reference branch

Orthogonal Symbol

When you want to create a branch portion which is orthogonal to another branch, a symbol associated with a dotted line indicates when orthogonality is reached: .

In the following example, a passing point is moved to reach orthogonality.
