Creating Standard Branch Points

A standard branch point is a point you position on the branch curve.

Create a Standard Branch Point while Routing a Branch

  1. Create and route a first branch using the Auto Routing Mode or the Manual Routing Mode .


  2. In the 3D area, hover over a second branch to position the standard branch point.
    The following icon represents the standard branch point to be created: .

  3. Click the branch curve.
    The standard branch point is added to the route of the first branch and the two branches are connected.

    You are now able to arrange the segments at the junction of the two branches. For more information, see Arranging Segments at a Junction.



    Note: When you route a first branch and connect it to a second branch using a standard branch point, the branch point is added to the curve of the second branch.

    Therefore, you need to activate the second branch if you want to edit the standard branch point.



Create a Standard Branch Point while Editing a Branch

  1. In the work area, select a branch, and then click Immersive Branch Definition from the Branch section of the action bar.
    The Auto Routing Mode is activated.
  2. On the context toolbar, click Creation Mode , and then click Add Standard Branch Point .
    In the 3D area:
    • A white bullet alongside a context toolbar appears on the curve.

      By default, they appear at the last clicked position.

    • A red anchor icon indicates the reference point of the branch point.

      By default, the reference point is the route element or the branch point closest to the white bullet.



  3. To position the branch point, do one of the following:
    • Click the white bullet, and then place with your pointer the branch point along the curve.

    • Pause over the white bullet to display the manipulator, and then drag an arrow along the curve.

    • Click the Distance label, enter a value, and then press Enter.
      Tip: Click Change Branch Point Unit to display the relative position of the branch point either in distance or in ratio.
  4. Click Exit Branch Point Edition or click in the 3D area.
    The standard branch point is created. In the tree, a new segment with the same attributes as the original segment appears under your branch node.

    You are now able to:
