Inserting Multiple Protective Coverings

You can place multiple protective coverings with the same properties to protect segments positioned at the same junction.

Note: Multiple protective coverings can only be placed in Length mode.

Before you begin: Open an electrical branch geometry where several segments are positioned at a junction.

About Protective Coverings
  1. From the Protection section of the action bar, click Multiple Protective Covering .
The Instantiate Protective Covering dialog box appears.
  2. From the Instantiate Protective Covering dialog box, select a Selection mode:
    • From Library: to insert an existing protective covering retrieved from an electrical library.
Note: This is the default option. For more information about libraries, see Working with General Libraries.
    • From database: to insert an existing protective covering retrieved from the database or from your session using the Content Chooser.

For more information, see Using the Content Chooser.

    • From catalog: to insert an existing protective covering retrieved from a catalog.

For more information about catalogs, see Design IP Classification User's Guide.

    • From scratch: to insert a new protective covering.

For more information, see Inserting a New Protective Covering.

  3. In the Length box, enter a value or use the arrows to change the value.

Important: When adding multiple coverings, any change in length impacts all the added coverings.
Tip: Click Set as Preferred Length if you want to set the defined length as the preferred length for all the protective coverings to be created.

  4. In the tree or the work area, select a segment end.
    Protective coverings are added to:

    • The selected segment
    • The segments with the same properties as the selected segment and connected at the same junction.

Important: Protective coverings are only added to segments belonging to the same electrical branch geometry as the selected segment.
  5. Click OK to validate.
The multiple protective coverings are added and appear under the Protection Set node in the tree.

Important: Once added, coverings are managed individually.
