Specification Properties

You can view a specification's properties and data related to the specification by accessing the specification's Properties page.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click Engineering > Specifications from the search field. From the Search page, select a type of Part Specification, CAD drawing, CAD model, or drawing print (subtype of Documents). For details, see Predefined Queries.
    • Open a part and click the Part Specs & Documents category. Specifications are listed in the Specifications tab.
  2. Click the name of the specification to view.

    If you access the specification from the context of a part, the Properties page opens. Click the name of the specification to access its Properties page. The properties that are displayed depend on the kind of specification you are viewing.

    The bottom of the page shows attached files. For details, see File List for a Versioning Document.

Actions/Toolbar Commands

Click any of the following commands from the page Actions menu or toolbar to work with the specification. Commands are performed on all checked specifications. Use the tabs to view additional information about the specification.

Command Description
Edit Details Opens the Edit Spec Details page. See Editing Specification Details. (For Component Engineers, this selection is available only for a Manufacturer Equivalent Part.)
Upload Copies an existing or new file from your local computer and checks it into this Specification. If you check in an existing file, a new version of that file is created. See Uploading Files.
Update Files Copies a new version of a checked-out file from your local computer. See Document Properties and Files Page.
Delete All Versions Deletes all versions of the checked file, click OK to confirm.
Transfer Ownership Opens slide-in where you transfer ownership of the specification if it is in the In Work or Frozen state. See Moving Content (Transferring Ownership).

Specification Properties

Column Description
Type The specification type or subtype.
Title The title given to the file when it was created.
Owner The person who is responsible for the specification.
Design Responsibility The title of the organization that has design responsibility for the specification.
Originated The date when the specification was created.
Modified The date on which any of the specification attributes was last changed.
Description An overview of the document's content.
Collaborative Policy The policy that controls the lifecycle and access for the drawing print.
Organization The organization title. The organization is based on your login credentials.
Collaborative Space Collaborative space is based on the login credentials.
(Locked Files) Number of files locked / number of files checked into this document. For example, 2/4 indicates 2 files of the 4 files checked into this object are locked.
(Route) If the icon shows in the row, the document is included in an active route. See Routes.

Specification Routes

To create a route related to the specification so that certain users or roles review and/or approve the specification, click Routes from the tabs. For details, see Routes Page and Routes Summary Page.
