Selecting a Work Under Change Action for an Unconfigured Part in 3DSpace

Any part that is under change management must have a Work Under change action (CA) assigned. You can select the CA either for an existing part or while you create a new part. After you select the CA, you can add proposed changes and promote the CA. Proposed changes that are released are listed as Realized Changes. You can also select a work under CA for a part that is not under change management but it is not required.

Note: If you select a change action that belongs to a change action group, the group name appears instead of the change action. See About Change Action Groups You can use groups only for unconfigured parts.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: The Work Under change action you select must be in the In Work state. Only those change actions in the In Work state are in the list of available change actions.
Note: Only one work under CA at a time can be assigned to an unconfigured part. Complete the associated change before assigning another work under CA.

Select a Work Under Change for an Existing Unconfigured Part

You can select a work under change action for an existing unconfigured part.

  1. Search for and open an existing part.
  2. Navigate to Engineering BOM > EBOM tab.
  3. Select Work Under Change, .
  4. Click the Work Under Change ellipsis and search for a CA.
    The search results show all CAs that meet these criteria:

    • The CA lifecycle state is In Work.
    • The CA can be used as a work under CA for the change in the BOM.
    • You are either the CA owner or assignee.

  5. Select the required CA from the list.
  6. Click the check mark next to the Work Under Change ellipses to confirm your CA selection.

    Note: The check mark on the Work Under toolbar icon signifies that you have selected a CA: . Hover your cursor over the icon to view which CA has been selected.

Select a Work Under Change for a New Unconfigured Part

You can select a work under change action while creating the part.

  1. From the top bar, click > Engineering > Part > Create Part.
  2. Select the ellipsis for the Work Under Change field in the create part form. Then, complete the rest of the Create Part form as required.
