Setup Section

The Setup section provides commands for creating simulation states, restoring part data, visualizing capable resources, and importing/exporting tracks.

The commands listed below are available in both Simulation and PPR Contexts unless stated otherwise.

New Simulation State
Creates a new simulation state. A state is a snapshot of the positions of the contents.
Click New Simulation State. A thumbnail of the content in the state appears in the Simulation States tab.
See Create a New Simulation State.

Import Reference States
Imports existing simulation states into the current context.
From the tree, select the objects whose states you want to import. The imported states are then available in the correct context.
See Create a New Simulation State.
3D View
Displays the 3D representation of the selected PPR object.

The 3D View lets you visualize:

  • The 3D representation of a product or resource
  • The build-up of an item, system or operation.

See Using the 3D View in Assembly Evaluation.
Relations
Displays the selected object's relations with other objects in the current session.
The panel displays relations such as scope links, implement links, data requirements, precedence constraints, product flows, and time constraints.
See Listing Related Objects in the Relations Panel.
Visualize Capable Resources
Visualizes and sets the position of a capable resource for a selected item. This command is not available in a PPR Context.
  • Select an item.
  • In the Visualize Capable Resources panel, activate a capable resource to visualize it and position it .
  • Use the Cumulative snap command to help in the positioning of the capable resource.
See Using Capable Resources with Tracks for Items.
Review
Creates a review for the current context type.
For more information, see Creating a Review in 3D Simulation.
Track file import
Imports tracks information from a file.
  • Select the folder where the desired XML file is stored.
  • Select the desired XML file and click Open.
  • Select the reference where the tracks are to be created.
  • The reference can be an Excitation node, an organizational resource, or an operation.
See Exporting and Importing Track Files.
Track file export
Exports tracks information to a file.
  • Select one or more fitting tracks.
  • In the Save XML dialog, select a folder in which the XML file is to be stored.
  • If needed, change the name of the XML file and then click Save.
  • The XML file is stored in the selected folder.
See Exporting and Importing Track Files.
