Bookmark Editor Access to Content

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is a collaborative environment for managing your business processes based on defined responsibilities and content lifecycles that provide secure access to content.

This page discusses:

Content Categories

Depending on your access role, you can create and manage the following types of content with Bookmark Editor.

Content Type Category
Bookmark Root Evaluation

Bookmarks can contain many types of content, managed by many apps. The content you can access and the tasks you can perform depend on your access role. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: Content Categories.

Access Roles

Bookmark Editor uses the 3DEXPERIENCE platform 3DSpace baseline access roles that your business Administrator assigns to you. The table below describes the level of access for design tasks.

Access Role for Design Tasks Description
Public Reader Has the access to read any content of collaborative spaces and organizations. With this access role, you can only access Public and Protected collaborative spaces.
Reader Has read-only access to bookmarks. Can open the content.
Contributor Has full access to bookmarks. Can open, create, and delete bookmarks. Can connect and disconnect an object.
Author Has full access to bookmarks. Can open, create, and delete bookmarks. Can connect and disconnect an object.
Leader Has full access to bookmarks. Can open, create, and delete bookmarks. Can connect and disconnect an object.

The table below describes the level of access for administrative tasks. These roles cannot create content as described in the above table (for Design tasks).

Access Role for Administrative Tasks Description
Owner

Has the access to read any content of the collaborative space including personal content, create Administrative Resource content (such as Material Domain, Resource Set, and so on), manage collaborative space resources such as persons, and standard content, modify any property of the content of the collaborative space for repair or exception tasks.

Administrator

Includes all Owner access rights across all collaborative spaces, create Administrative Resource content (such as Material Domain, Resource Set, and so on), manage company resources such as collaborative spaces, organizations, and persons, modify any property of content of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform regardless of its company for repair or exception tasks.

Note:

Only root bookmarks are displayed in first expand in Bookmark Editor. To access the sub bookmarks, the root bookmark has to be shared. A sub bookmark can only be seen in Bookmark Editor if its parent bookmark is visible.

The access roles provide hierarchical access. For the baseline access roles, Leader includes all access that an Author has (who has all access that a Reader has) plus additional specific accesses. In the above table, an access role has all the accesses of the roles that appear above it.

Your business administrator can configure rules that change the default access behavior.

On premises only: Your business administrator can change the default responsibilities that control your access to commands, content, and collaborative spaces. Companies can also implement additional customized responsibilities.

This guide describes the default behavior when describing access to content or commands.

Your access to content or commands is determined by more than your responsibility. The current collaborative space, your organization, the current lifecycle state of the content, the app you are using, and other customizations all affect whether you can access content or commands. You might have access to some content or commands only under certain conditions.
