Creating Fasteners Bundles

You can create bundles to group consistent families of fastener instances and stackings. By default, bundles are created at the common father.

Specify the Bundle's Name

  1. From the Fastener section of the action bar, click Create Bundle .
  2. Enter the required name, or keep the default name.

Specify the Parts to Fasten

  1. In the tree or the 3D area, select the parts to fasten.
    • The first selected part is the pilot part (fastener entry part). The fastener normal direction is computed from this part.
    • The other parts are other parts in current stacking.
    • The parts now are grouped in the bundle. Each row shows the name of the part's instance.
  2. Optional: Select the parts to define the stacking, and click the commands you need to organize the stacking.

    • You can click:
    • to delete a stacking part.
    • to reorder the stacking part by moving the selected part up in the order.
    • to reorder the stacking part by moving the selected part down in the order.
    • to reverse the current stacking order.

Apply Colors

Optional: In Legend, select the Activate 3D Coloring check box.
Different colors identify the parts as follows:
  • Green: Fastener entry part
  • Cyan: Other parts in the current stacking
  • Gray: Parts not present in the current stacking


Note: When only one row of the stacking list is selected in the dialog box, only the corresponding part is highlighted in the tree or the 3D area. All the other parts become transparent.

Specify the Bundle's Location

By default, Either bundles are created and searched at the common father of fastened parts, or bundles are created and searched at the active product reference if the criteria for a valid bundle location are satisfied.

  1. To specify the bundle's location in the assembly structure, in Options, do one of the following:

    • Click OK to create the bundle and close the dialog box. By default, the bundle is instantiated at the closest common father node of the selected parts. If you clear Common Father node, the bundle is instantiated under the active product under the configuration model.

    • Note: The bundle can be created not at the common father node if:
      • The common father of fastener parts contains a configuration model
      • The father of bundle contains a configuration model
    • Click Search from Database to verify if a bundle already exists for such parts (same parts and same order). If the system finds a bundle, click OK to close the message window, and return to the Bundle Creation dialog box. You can make the required changes to the stacking.

  2. Click OK.
