Running the Structure Compare Report

You can generate a report that compares the structure of a model version, product line, variant, or option group to another model version, product line, variant, or option group. The report shows the results of comparing the structure of the selected objects, based on the context in which the report was run:

When run from the Variants Page or Variant Values Page, it compares the structures of the two variants.
When run from the Option Groups Page or Options Page, it compares the structures of the two option groups.
When run from the Variants and Options Page of a model version, it compares the variant and option group structures of the two model versions.
When run from the Variants and Options Page of a product line, it compares the variant and option group structures of the two product lines.

Color coding and visual cues highlight where differences exist between the structures being compared.

Before you begin: Do one of the following to select the first object to compare:

To compare two variants, view the Variants Page or the Variant Values Page. Select a variant.
To compare two option groups, view the Option Groups Page or the Options Page. Select an option group.
To compare two revisions of a model version, view the Variants and Options Page for one of the model version revisions. Do not select the model version.
To compare two product lines, view the Variants and Options Page for one of the product lines. Do not select the product line.

Enter these details:


Field Name	Description
Name	Click to select the object to compare with this object in context. The page limits you to selecting objects of the same type as the context object. If here is only one other instance of this type of object, it automatically populates the field.
Match Based On	Select the fields used to determine whether the features of Object 1 match features of Object 2. Objects are considered the same if the values for all selected fields are the same. The match can be based on: Display Name Name Sequence Number
Compare By	Select each field that you want to compare between the matched features. The available options are: Display Name Name Sequence Number Key-In Type Must/May
Expand Level	From the list, select the number of levels you want to expand the structure before comparison. Choose a number from 1 to 5 or All. Only expanded nodes are compared.

Select the type of report output you want:


Report Output	Description
Complete Summary	Reports all information about the features being compared in Object 1 and Object 2.
Difference Only Summary	Reports only the differences between the objects being compared in Object 1 and Object 2.
Unique to Left	Reports only information unique to the objects being compared in Object 1 (on the left).
Unique to Right	Reports only information unique to objects being compared in Object 2 (on the right).
Common Components	Reports only the similarities between the two objects being compared.

Click Done to generate the report.
