Classes List

If you have the Librarian role, you can display a list of all the classes, document families, and part families. The Classes list page lists all types of classes.

Click the Compass and select IP Classification.

To access this page:

  • In the left side menu, click > Library > Classes.

Columns

Column Name Description
Title Title of the class. Click to view the list of items in the class.


Shows a lock symbol if you have locked the class, document family, or part family.
Type Shows whether the object is a document family, part family, or general class.
Name The name of the class, document family, or part family.
Description Details about the class.
State Current state of the class in its lifecycle. A set of lifecycle states is assigned a color.

Color of the State column varies according to the current state of the class:

Color State
Yellow Inactive, Create, and Review
Green Active, Approved
Red Locked, Obsolete

Owner Person responsible for the class.
Classification Path The hierarchy for this document family, part family, or general class. Click a link in the path to view the contents page for that item.


Opens the list of objects in the document family, part family, or general class in a new window.

Filters

To filter the list of classes, select the type of class from the View list:

  • All: Lists all classes irrespective of the type or the state.
  • Document Family: Lists the document families.
  • Part Family: Lists the part families.
  • General Class: Lists the general classes.
  • In Process Class: Lists classes that are inactive or waiting for approval (create state or review state).
  • Active Classes: Lists classes that are in active state or approved state.

Note: By default, All is selected.

Add to Folders Adds selected classes to folders.
Delete Deletes the selected classes from the database; click OK to confirm. --
Search Within Searches for classified items within the library or classification. Predefined Queries
