Reference Items for a Part

The Reference Item page provides a hierarchical summary of the information associated with a part. It can include information for documents or related parts, such as spare parts, tooling parts, or alternate parts.

Design Engineers, Senior Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Senior Manufacturing Engineers can view the list and add or remove items.

To access this page:

  1. View the DMR for a part. See DMR Page.
  2. Click the number in the Reference Item column.

Or:

  1. Open the required part.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Device Master Record.
  3. Click the Reference Items tab.

Columns

The list is grouped by Reference Part Type by default, but you can change it as needed.

Column NameDescription
NameThe name of referenced object. Click to view the properties page for the object.
TypeThe business type, such as CAD drawing or part.
Reference Part TypeFor a reference item that is a part, the reference part type:

  • Spare
  • Alternate
  • Reference
  • Tooling

PlantThe plant associated with the object.
StateThe current lifecycle state of the object.

Actions/Toolbar Commands for the Reference Items Category

You only see actions on the toolbar for the Reference Items category page for a part. No actions show on the Reference Item list opened from the DMR page tab.

The state and type of object, plus your role, determines if you can access the Actions on this page.

For EC parts:

  • In the Preliminary state, these roles have actions available:
    • Design Engineer
    • Manufacturing Engineer
    • Senior Design Engineer
    • Senior Manufacturing Engineer
  • In the Review state, these roles have actions available:
    • Senior Design Engineer
    • Senior Manufacturing Engineer
  • In the Approved state, no actions are available for any roles.

Access is not restricted for development parts.
