Changing the Owner of an Object

You can modify the owner of objects.

You can only transfer an object to a user that is in the same organization and in the same collaborative space.

Important:
  • When you search for products from the Top bar or from Advanced Search, references are retrieved (they are not in context of an assembly). Therefore, you can only transfer the reference.
  • When Folder Content is checked, only the first level of propagation is done on the selected object.

For more information, see About Moving Content.

Required access roles: Reader, Contributor, Author, Leader, Owner. For more information, see Collaborative Lifecycle Access to Content.

Before you begin:
  • Unlock the object.
  • You must have ownership rights for the objects you intend to transfer.
  1. Select an object.
  2. From the Collaboration section in the action bar, click Change Owner .
The Change Owner dialog box appears.
  3. Search the new owner with the search field in the top bar, and select it.

    Notes:
    • The shortcut for a person query is: person: XXX, where XXX is the user's trigram.
    • This command uses the Content Chooser. For more information, see Using the Content Chooser.

The owner of the selected object is modified and a message appears indicating that the transfer was successful.

Warning: If the target owner is not in the same organization and collaborative space as the current owner of the objects, a warning box indicates so and the transfer is not allowed.
