Creating a Derived Event

If you want to create a reportable event or multiple sections within an event, you can create derived events. When you promote an event to In Process state, a derived event is created automatically. You can designate it as a reportable event. If you want to evaluate different sections or aspects of an event, you can create multiple derived events and an evaluation for each derived event. You can also create multiple levels of derived events.

Before you begin:
  • You must be a Quality Manager or complaint investigator. If you are a complaint investigator, you must also be the complaint owner.
  • The complaint must be in In Process state.
  • No adverse event reports must be created for the event.
  • You must be on the Complaint Power View page.
