Insert as Child > Existing
Part
|
Add an existing part as a child to a selected
part.
Search for a part in the database and add it to the BOM (in
Edit mode, click
Save to commit your changes). (You can
also click Insert existing row in the main menu to add
an existing part.) Click the cell in the Name column and enter a name in the
text field, then click
Lookup Entries from the page toolbar to
perform a part search based on the criteria entered. Use edit to change part
details. If you select a part in the BOM before you click Insert Existing, the
part is added as a child part for that part.
- The Type column defaults to Part. It supports type-ahead.
- The Revision column defaults to Latest.
- The Policy field contains a list with the following range
values: Development Part, EC Part.
- The Name column supports manual entry for the name.

for Insert New.
- For development configured parts (In Work parent part),
the Current
Effectivity is mandatory.
- The Type column defaults to Part. It supports type-ahead.
- The Revision column defaults to Latest.
- The Name column contains a list that supports AutoName
series and manual entry for name.

Replace By Existing
Part
|
Search for a part in the database to replace
a part in the BOM.
These options apply to the part structure that includes the
part to be replaced and only if the "Replace By" part is in an editable state:
- The purpose of the Replace with BOM of Existing Part option
is to populate the "Replace By" part with the first-level
EBOM of the part that is being replaced. For
example, suppose that you replace a part named Part B with Part K. Part K is
the "Replace By" part since it is replacing Part B. Part K has no existing EBOM
structure. If the Replace with BOM of Existing Part option is used, then Part K
replaces Part B and Part K now has the EBOM structure of Part B.
- If the Replace with No BOM option is used, then Part K
replaces Part B and Part K continues to have no EBOM structure.
You can also right-click a part in the BOM to replace it (does
not apply to multiple selected parts).
|
|
Replace By New Part
|
Replace the selected part with a new part.
Create a part to replace a selected part in the BOM. See
Creating a Part. If the part to
replace the existing part in the BOM does not have a BOM structure, select one
of the following:
- Replace with No BOM. Replaces the
part and BOM structure with the new part.
- Replace with BOM of Existing Part.
Replaces the part with the new part and copies the BOM structure of the
existing part to the new part.
You can also right-click a part in the BOM to replace it (does
not apply to multiple selected parts).
