About Manufacturing Substitutes

A manufacturing substitute is a component or an assembly that is a suitable replacement for one or more parts in only one assembly in which the original parts occur. Manufacturing substitutes must have the same find number, reference designator, and quantity as that of the substituted parts.

Once manufacturing substitutes are defined and released in a BOM, a Manufacturing Engineer can select them in a corresponding MBOM.
