Creating a DCR

There is a special type of ECR called a Deviation Change Request (DCR). DCRs can be used to create a BOM Markup and for deviation purposes and for no other process.

You can raise a DCR if you have the Senior Design Engineer or Senior Manufacturing Engineer role.

The Create ECR page contains these additional attributes for DCRs: Start Effective Date, End Effective Date, and Affected Plants. When you create an ECR with these attributes, the ECR is also automatically named by the system and connected to the affected part.

Before you begin: Access a part Bill of Materials page in MBOM Plant-Specific edit mode (Current & Pending view). See Editing Part Bill of Materials - MBOM Plant-Specific.

When the creator promotes the ECR/DCR to the Submit state, the ECR Coordinator is notified via e-mail. For ECRs raised against production parts, the ECR Coordinator designates the ECR as a DCR on the Edit ECR page during the Submit state. For details, see Editing ECR Details.

If the ECR was raised against a production part, a Manufacturing Responsibility relationship is established between the ECR and its affected plants.
