Creating an Object

To create an object in
3DEXPERIENCE:

Drag the file from the local folder to the
3DEXPERIENCE
folder.
Note: You cannot drag and drop Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) files and Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (.pptx) files containing embedded videos to 3DEXPERIENCE to upload because of the OpenXML limitation.
Do one of the following to insert videos in a ppt:
- Insert a video using Insert
Object in Microsoft
PowerPoint.Note: Do not select Link check box.
- Insert a text link, which targets the video.
You can simultaneously select files to create an object and for Update. All files appear in the same dialog box.

Some of the options listed below are also provided at the top of the dialog box to apply the preferences to all the files listed in the dialog box.
Options Description File Name The name of the file. This is always read-only. Title Type the title of the document. Name Type the name of the document. Type Choose a type from the list. By default the type value is the value you have defined in User preferences. If all the files dragged perform the Create New Object operation, then select the type from the list.
If all the files dragged perform the check-in operation, then the Type option is read-only.
Policy Select the policy from the list. By default the policy value is the value you have defined in User preferences. If all the files dragged perform the check-in operation, then the Policy option is read-only. Auto name Select to name the document using the Auto name feature. If selected at the top section of the dialog box, all the Auto Name check boxes are selected for the files listed in the dialog box. If you update the existing document, this option is not displayed.
Delete Local File after successful upload Select to delete the local file on your computer. If selected at the top section of the dialog box, all the Delete Local File check boxes are selected for the files listed in the dialog box. Retain Lock Select to retain the lock on the document. If selected at the top section of the dialog box, all the Retain Lock check boxes are selected for the files listed in the dialog box. Comment Enter your comments in the empty field to apply to all documents. - Click OK.

To attach a file to an existing object in
3DEXPERIENCE:

Drag the file from the local folder to the existing file in
3DEXPERIENCE,
by selecting the existing file.

Type the
Title and select the required check
boxes.
If all the files dragged perform the check-in operation, then the Type, Policy, Format, and Name fields are read-only.
- Click Save.
The file is attached to a selected existing object. -
Drag the file from the local folder to the existing file in
3DEXPERIENCE,
by selecting the existing file.
