Collaboration for Microsoft Windows Explorer Integration Interface

Collaboration for Microsoft integrates 3DEXPERIENCE with Windows Explorer and lets you manage and navigate documents in 3DEXPERIENCE.

The Windows Explorer integration interface has the following panes:

  • Folder View - The left pane that displays 3DEXPERIENCE folders.
  • Item View - The upper-right pane that displays the content in 3DEXPERIENCE folders.
  • Detail View - The lower-right pane that displays the attributes, the revisions or the versions, or the preview of the selected content.

You can access all the features of the Collaboration for Microsoft Windows Explorer integration from the customized 3DEXPERIENCE toolbar ribbon. You can also access the functions available for respective files with a right-click.

The commands in the 3DEXPERIENCE ribbon and the other features of the integration interface are only available when you are logged on to 3DEXPERIENCE.

The following commands are available in the 3DEXPERIENCE ribbon:

Login

Logs on to 3DEXPERIENCE.

You must log on only once to establish a session with the server. When you access other applications you do not have to supply user credentials again.

Logout

Logs off from 3DEXPERIENCE.

If you close the application without logging off, your working session stays active up to a time limit. You do not have to log on again when you use a different Microsoft Office application.

Open

Opens the documents in their native Microsoft Office application.

Download

Downloads the documents from 3DEXPERIENCE to your computer.



Delete

Deletes the documents and all their revisions from 3DEXPERIENCE.

Lock

Locks a document so that no one else can make changes to it when you are working on it.

Unlock

Unlocks the document so that users can update the files and create versions.

Revise

Lets you perform either of the following operations:

  • Revise with files

    Creates a new revision of the document that contains active files. The new revision also contains latest versions of the files attached to the previous revision.

  • Revise without files

    Creates a new revision of the document with no attached files.

Sync

Lets you synchronize and share documents between two folders in 3DEXPERIENCE or across 3DEXPERIENCE and Office 365 folders.

Explore in web

Opens the document in the web user interface.



Attributes

Displays the managed attributes for the document.

Attributes of a document are their properties saved in 3DEXPERIENCE, for example, Access Type, Check-in Reason, Description, Designated User, File Version, Internal Name, Lock Status, Language, Locker, Originator, Owner, Policy, Revision, State, Title, Type, Vault, Version and Version Date.

Note: These properties are different from file properties.

Revisions / Versions

Displays the revisions and versions for the document.

Document objects are managed using revisions and the files attached to document objects are managed using versions.

Refresh

Refreshes the current window.



About

Displays information about the version of Collaboration for Microsoft.

Create

Lets you create a new document object in 3DEXPERIENCE

Update

Upload files to the selected document. The files with the same names as in the selected document will be updated. The files with different names from the selected document are uploaded.

View

Lets you change the view layout.

Note: All the commands in the toolbar ribbon are not available at all times.
  • Before you log on to 3DEXPERIENCE, only About is available
  • After you log on, Refresh , Explore in web , Save as New and the Search feature are available even if you do not select any content.
  • When you select some content in the Items View pane, all the options in the corresponding context menu are also available in the toolbar ribbon.
