Name Description

Name

The name of the opportunity, assigned automatically by the system. See Opportunity Properties Page.

[Project Status]

The status icons indicate the level of opportunity.
Affected Items What the opportunity affects, for example, a project.

Title

A short, descriptive title of the opportunity.

State

Shows the opportunity's current state, which can be:
  • To Do. The assignees can begin working on the opportunity by promoting it to In Work, which populates the actual start date with the current date, or by entering an actual start date, which automatically promotes the opportunity to In Work.
  • In Work. The assignee is working on the opportunity.
  • In Approval. The opportunity is ready to be reviewed by other project or company personnel. Assignees route the opportunity for review. When such a route is completed, the system automatically promotes the opportunity to Completed. Alternatively, the owner or assignee can manually promote the opportunity to Completed or enter an actual finish date, which promotes the opportunity.
  • Completed. The opportunity has been reviewed and is completed.
Opportunity Type The opportunity type, for example, Cost, Quantity, Technical, Resource, Performance, Schedule, Benefits, Manufacturability, or Other.
Estimated Benefit The amount of the estimated benefit.
OPN The OPN represents a specific opportunity probably factor for an opportunity. A single opportunity can have multiple OPNs, each representing separate aspects of opportunity probability.

Impact and Probability numbers for an OPN roll up to the opportunity level once saved.

Impact The significance of the opportunity to the organization. The values are 1 -5, with 5 indicating opportunities with the highest value.
Probability The probability of accomplishing the opportunity. The values are 1 -5, with 5 indicating opportunities most likely to be realized..
Effective Date The date on which the impact and probability are defined.
Estimated Start Date The date the owner estimates the opportunity assignee will begin to resolve the issue.
Estimated End Date The date the owner estimates the opportunity assignee will finish the resolution.

Actual Start Date

The date an assignee begins work on the opportunity. The system fills in the current date automatically when the owner or assignee promotes the opportunity to Active. Alternatively, the owner or an assignee can manually enter or edit the date.
Actual End Date The date the assignee completes the opportunity. The system fills in the current date automatically when the owner or assignee promotes the opportunity to Complete. Alternatively, the owner or assignee can manually enter or edit the date.

Assignee

The people assigned to work on the opportunity. Each name is separated by a comma.
Description The description entered by the Project Lead or Opportunity assignee.
