Tools Section

The Tools section provides commands to find, print, and explore relationships between objects.

Home
Returns to the home page.


Edit Mode
Activates or deactivates the edition mode. When disabled, the authoring commands are grayed out.
Direct manipulation using drag and drop operations is also blocked.

Note: The Edit Mode is activated by default. Each time you instantiate a new widget, the Edit Mode is also activated by default.

Work under Bookmark
Set or unset a bookmark as active.
Set a bookmark as active to add inside all the newly created content of the widget.
Relations
Displays the ecosystem of related objects.

Filter
Filters the structure either by attribute or by configuration.

Opens the filter pane where you can define the criteria to filter the structure either by attribute or by configuration.

Notes:
  • Drag-and-drop of a filtered object into a native app is not supported.
  • On cloud, when you apply a volume query, even if some results are found in 3D Compose, nos results are found in Product Structure Editor, and the following message is displayed: "No object matches the criteria".
Find
Finds objects in the tree that contain the specified string of characters.

Note: You can also run the Find command available from the Find column in the Tree view and from the context menu.

Print
Prints the structure to the printer of your choice.
Opens the Print dialog box that allows you to print the entire loaded structure presented in table format.
  • This command works only on the existing view, the expand is not automatic.
  • The model can be updated with the values of the additional columns that are not in the view
  • If there are more than 1000 nodes in the view, a warning panel appears. Click Yes to process the model.

Generate Derived Output
Creates the jobs to generate a derived output for all the representations under the selected objects.
Select one or more objects and click the command. If multiple formats are available, select the format in the Generate Derived Output dialog box.

Authoring Mode
Toggles from Index mode to Authoring mode, or vice versa.
In Index mode, objects are retrieved from the CloudView index. In Authoring mode, objects are retrieved from the 3DSpace database.

Switching modes has several consequences:

  • The Filter command is only available in Index mode.
  • Indexed simplified geometry is only available in Index mode.
  • Response times are better when retrieving structures from the index in Index mode, than when retrieving it from the 3DSpace database in Authoring mode. The loading time of 3D objects is the same in either mode.

Flyout for Exporting

Export
Export the loaded structure as a .csv file.
Exports the entire loaded structure as a .csv file to your local computer. You can open this file in Microsoft Excel.

Important: This app creates reports or generates content that contains personal data. Manage these in accordance with good personal data treatment practices.

  • This command works only on the existing view, the expand is not automatic.

Export V5
Exports the selected objects as CATIA V5 files.
Select one or more objects and click the command. In the Export V5 dialog box, enter the target directory for the CATIA V5 files and the export report. If you do not want to overwrite CATIA V5 files that already exist in the target directory with a same file name, select the Keep a copy of the existing file in case of conflict in the disk option.

Flyout for Tree List View Options

Tree List View Options
Specifies how content is displayed in the structure.
Opens a Tree List View Options dialog box that allows you to select which columns you want to display in the structure and how you want the column's content to be displayed.
Relation Column Options
Customizes the behavior of the Relation column.
Note: A progress icon briefly appears when the Add automatically to the view option is selected and you expand objects.
