About Reconstruction Modes

To reconstruct a 3D model, two different types of reconstruction processes can be used. Once the reconstruction has begun with one mode, you cannot change it.

This page discusses:

Reconstruction from Canonic Views

This mode of reconstruction is used to build cylindrical objects.

This mode of reconstruction is based on two images maximum. The canonic views reconstruction requires the creation of the object contour using the sketching command and the definition of the view for the created object contour. The front view definition is mandatory.

Reconstruction from Multiple Perspective Views

This mode of reconstruction is used to build objects containing salient parts or textured zones.

The multiple views reconstruction is based on:

  • The definition of the main parts of the object.
  • The definition of correspondences and symmetry between elements from different images.

You can add more constraints and 2D geometries to complete the 3D model.

For better a result, use images of the object from different point of views. A first reconstruction can be done based on characteristic points of the object. More details can be defined in a second step.

Reconstruction Mode Selection

To choose between the two modes of reconstruction, select one of the following options:

  • From canonic views: the model is reconstructed using the canonic views mode.
  • From a set of perspective views: the model is reconstructed using the multiple perspective views mode.

These two modes of reconstruction are defined in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Digitized Shape > Photo to Shape > General. For more information, see Native Apps Preferences Guide: General.
