What's New

This page describes recent changes in Digitized Shape to Surface.

This page discusses:

R2022x FD01 (FP.2205)

Sketch from Scan

Sketch from Scan has been enhanced as follows.
  • You can ignore a portion of scan: The sketch does not stick to the scan there.
  • Relevant constraints are set on the sketch to ease potential edition of the generated sketch afterward in the sketcher (No user interaction required).
Benefits: These enhancements bring additional productivity gains:
  • More flexibility to ignore an area where the mesh has some defect, or to skip some details to be taken into account at a later stage of the reconstruction process.
  • Easier sketch edition while preserving the main shape.
For more information, see Creating a Sketch from Scan

Mechanical Shape Wizard

Resuming the work in Mechanical Shape Wizard has been made easier.
After you have selected the mesh and the design space:
  • The list of geometrical sets is initialized from the tree.
  • You can adjust the list interactively (add or remove) by clicking geometrical sets in the tree.
  • From the wizard, you can remove a geometrical set from the wizard list (It is not deleted from the tree).
  • Relevant commands have been gathered and organized in the Action Pad.
Benefits: Having the most useful commands at hand, and an easier way to resume work in the Mechanical Shape Wizard result in additional productivity gains.
For more information, see Using the Mechanical Shape Wizard Action Pad Panel

Curvature Map

A new Curvature Map command is proposed from the action bar and the Action Pad, or in Curves Network Preparation.

The former Curvature Mapping command has been renamed into Associative Curvature Map, and moved to the secondary section.
Benefits: The new command requires no interaction (except selecting the mesh). Computation is quick and more robust regarding the mesh pathologies.

R2022x GA

Support of Polyhedral Geometry

You can now apply commands on polyhedral objects, or use polyhedral geometry as inputs.
Benefits: The app is more efficient and robust.

Polyhedral Geometry in Digitized Shape to Surface

In Digitized Shape to Surface, the commands supporting polyhedral geometry are related to alignments, deviation analysis, and the creation of elementary geometry and transformations.
Benefits: This enhancement ensures the consistency of commands available in other apps.

Mechanical Shape Reconstruction

The following commands have been added or revisited to speed-up the reconstruction process.
  • Mechanical Shape Wizard provides shortcuts and accelerator to reconstruct a mechanical part and manage the repetitive tasks of the process.
  • Preferences - Mechanical Shape Wizard provides two reconstruction approach options for Mechanical Shape Wizard, depending on the presence of Part Design Essentials.
  • Sketch from Scan has been rewritten for a better user experience.
Note: You can access the previous version of this command from the secondary section of the action bar, as Sketch from Scan (Legacy).
  • 3D Primitive Recognition has been enhanced, with a focus on the management of constraints and on productivity. The capability to create closed volumes for cylinders and cones has been added.
  • Automatic Surface has been rewritten based on the best in class technology for free-form surface automatic generation. You can still convert into subdivision surfaces for further sculpting in Imagine & Shape.
Note: You can access the previous version of this command from the secondary section of the action bar, as Automatic Surface (Legacy). Both commands support large range data.
  • Surface Network has been enhanced for a better management of mesh pathologies, such as overlaps and gaps between neighboring areas.

Benefits:
  • Better display of the submeshes when you confirm the surface type (Master/Transition) or select the areas for computation.
  • Better respect of the max deviation when the Fit on support option is selected.
  • More homogeneous density of colored points in the deviation analysis.
  • Fewer bumpy surfaces due to a submesh overlapping neighboring cells.

Action Pad

Isophote Mapping has been added to the Action Pad.

Benefits: Isophote Mapping helps you verify the surface quality.
