Preparing Files

You must prepare your data to import the information related to assortments and retail stores. You can import XLS, XLSX, or CSV files. You can use the import option to add assortment and retail store information to the 3D Merchandising database. You can also upload images associated with products.

You can create data in Microsoft Excel and add the required information. To import assortment data, you must add the details of the assortment, sub assortments, products, and consumer decision tree. To import retail data, you must add the details of the business units, departments, retail categories, retail stores, and retail clusters.

  1. Create a blank Microsoft Excel workbook.
  2. Enter the section names that you want to import in the database.
    For more information, see Assortment Data Sections and Retail Data Sections.
    Note: If you need to import products outside of an assortment, do not define an assortment section in your file. Only the products are imported.
  3. Click Save.

    The import document is created, and you can now import the data into 3D Merchandising.

    Notes:
    • You can also save the workbook in CSV (Comma Delimited) (*csv) format.
    • Ensure that the separator used is a comma and the decimal number separator is a period.
    • You may need to change your regional options on your computer to ensure that these properties are applied when you save the spreadsheet in the CSV format.
    • If you want to import Collada files, you can add representations of source type Import Details in the XLS import file, name the Collada archive (.zae) files for high, medium, low, or very low resolution models along with the EAN number, and drop them in the Import 3D Merchandising Data window. Non archived Collada (.dae) files are not supported.
