Managing Files Associated to a Representation

You can associate files to a representation to create a 3D model. You can upload pictures, 3D models, or assembly XML files.

Required access roles: Author, Leader

Before you begin:
  1. Open a representation.

    For more information, see Opening a Representation.

  2. View the Document Files tab.
Create a representation.

Associate Pictures to a Representation

You can associate pictures to a representation to generate a 3D model.

  1. Click Upload/Check In.
  2. Browse and select the pictures corresponding to the front of your product, the back, the top, the bottom, the left, and the right if you have all of them.
    Note: For more information, see Image Format and Orientation.
  3. Click Done.
    A new window with the list of your uploaded pictures appears.

    The pictures are associated to the representation.

Delete Pictures

You can delete pictures from the document list of the representation.

  1. Select the image to delete.
  2. To delete pictures, do either of the following:
    • Click Actions > Delete This Version to remove one image.
    • Click Actions > Delete All Versions to remove several images.
  3. Click OK.

Upload a 3D Model

You can upload a model and thumbnails manually, and import existing levels of details generated as MPPACK files. For more information, see the following white papers:

  1. Click Upload/Check In.
  2. Browse and select the files to upload corresponding to the details of the product.
  3. Associate each file with the corresponding category whether it is a HighResolutionModel, a MediumResolutionModel, a LowResolutionModel, and a VeryLowResolutionModel.

    For more information about levels of details of a representation, see Levels of Details.

  4. Click Done.
    The files are associated, and appear in the details of the representation.

Upload an Assembly XML File

  1. Click Upload/Check In.
  2. Browse and select the assembly XML file.
  3. From the list, select XML.
  4. Click Done.
    The assembly representation XML is attached.
