Adding a Survey

You can create surveys that can be answered by any member of the community.

  1. In the top bar, select Add > Survey.

    In a 3DSwym dashboard app in a dashboard or in the communities pane, click and start editing your survey.

  2. In the Give your Survey a Title field, enter the title of the survey.
  3. Enter your question, and if required enrich it with a media by clicking Add a Media.
  4. In the Answer Type box select either of the following:
    • Single choice: Allows the respondent to select one answer only among several choices. If you want to add a free open additional answer select Add an "Other" free answer option.

      Click to remove a question from the list, and if required click Add Answer to add as many answers as required.

    • Multiple choices: Allows the respondent to select several closed-ended question types.

      Click to remove a question from the list, and if required click Add Answer to add as many answers as required.

    • Open answer: Allows the respondent to write his own answer in a free text field.
    • Rating scale: Allows the respondent to answer using a rating scale to indicate the extend of agreement or disagreement,

      By default, five steps are proposed. You can also:

      • modify the number of steps in the Number of Steps list,
      • start the list at zero or one by selecting the Start at zero check-box.
      • enter start and end labels to indicate the scale direction.

  5. Click:
    • Next to continue editing the survey details.
    • Save as draft to continue editing your survey later on.

The survey is either saved as a draft or published in the community. Once published and depending on its completeness, you can analyze the results:

  • using a pie graph. Select Pie graph.
  • using a csv file. Click Export Results to receive an email containing the file..
Note: if the survey has not been completed yet, you have not answered it either, click Check Results to access the results. Click Answer to return to the normal view and be able to answer the survey.

The survey can be also made available to the community members by:

  • sharing a dashboard that includes the 3DSwym widget .
  • asking the users of your community to instantiate the 3DSwym Content widget in their own dashboards.

    If you share a dashboard, you will have to set the preferences of the widget app yourself before sharing it. If you asked the users to instantiate the widget, they will have to set the preferences themselves. The widget must be set as described below by selecting in the lists:

    • Survey as Content type.
    • the community where your survey has been published in Select a community.
    • the name of your survey in Select a survey.
