Creating Links From a Link Set

The purpose of a link set is to create and store traceability links. Link set links are external to the linked documents, and visible in Systems Traceability Dashboarding only.

Important: From a link set, you can create links between objects:

For example, you can create link set links between different kinds of objects from different 3DEXPERIENCE or V6 versions.

Tip: A property can be added to a link set link, in addition to the usual constraints For more information, see Links Constraint Configuration.

This topic describes how to create link set links directly from the link set. You can also create such links from a scope, provided that a link set has been first added to this scope. For more information, see Creating Links from the Coverage View.

Create a Link Set

Before you begin: Link sets are stored in folders.

Create a folder in one of the following tree categories:

  • Bookmark: in an existing bookmark workspace
  • Project: in an existing project

  1. Select a folder.
  2. In the properties area, click Create Link Set and then:
    1. Enter a name.
    2. Optional: Change the policy. By default, a policy is selected.

Create a Link from a Link Set

From the link set, you can create and manage links.

  1. Open a link set.
  2. From the navigation bar, click Add to Context .
    The icon of the context object appears in the navigation bar.
  3. Optional: To define the same source for several links:
    1. In the tree, select the element that must be the source of the links to be created.
    2. In the properties area, click Mark Link Source.
    3. Check that the selected element is displayed in the Mark Link Source dialog box.
  4. To create a link, click Create Link in the properties area.
  5. In the Create Link dialog box:
    1. Drag an element to the Source box.

      Note: If you have used the Mark Link Source command, this box is fulfilled.

    2. Drag an element to the Target box.
    3. Optional: Select another type in the Type list.
    The new link is displayed in the link set.
