The Operation Dialog Box

Whenever you create or edit an operation, a specific dialog box appears to let you define your parameters.

This page discusses:

Header

The dialog box's header displays global information on the object and provides commands to manage the operation.

Name of the object

Clicking the name lets you define a new name.

Name of the operator
Output dimensions

Clicking the number displays the output structure of the operation.

Hovering over an output item in the list highlights it in the 3D area.

Actions and Color

Depending on the selected object, several actions are available:

Clicking lets you apply a color to the geometry resulting from the operation.

Menu

Provides additional commands such as Center in Graph and lets you display contextual help.

For more information, see Reframe the View in the Graph Editor.

Operator Subcategory

In this area, the operators belonging to the same subcategory as the edited operation are displayed.

Clicking an operator lets you convert the operation into another type belonging to the same subcategory. During the conversion, inputs and outputs connected to the initial operation node are updated to be connected to the new operation node.

Inputs

In this area, the operation's inputs are listed to let you edit the parameters of an operation. Each row corresponds to an input.

Status of the input

Displays a color to indicate the status of each input:

  • Green: the input has a value.
  • Orange: the input needs to be connected to allow the computation of the operation.
  • Gray: the input's parameter is not mandatory. It can be set or unset.

Name of the input

When the input is connected, you can click its name to navigate to the connected node. As a consequence, the operation dialog box of the triggered node appears.

Note: To easily navigate between the nodes involved in an operation, you can use the navigation bar provided in the footer.

Edition area

Lets you edit the value of your inputs.

Menu

Provides additional commands specific to an input.

  • For numeral inputs, commands for creating a node are available.

If the numeral input is connected, the Formula command is also provided to apply a new formula to the value of the selected input.

  • For connected inputs, a list of operators is available in the Decorate list to let you preprocess the input before its computation.
