Managing Track Time, Regrasp and Trajectory Points

You can within a simulation, you can modify the time within a track to account for the time taken for human tasks. To do this, you can use the PUT/OPERATE PART and USETOOL activities relating to managing the track and user-defined time. You can control the time, edit a regrasp, and manage trajectory points.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Have a scenario open with manikins and objects in the Ergonomics at Work application with tracks defined. We use Create Get in this example.

Manage Track Time

You can manage the track time in 3D Simulation for a manikin.

  1. Click Create Get .
    Follow the procedures for Create a Single-Handed GET Activity.
  2. Click Put.

  3. Click Edit in the context toolbar.

    This starts the Put Activity Definition dialog box.

  4. Select the Motion Basis tab.

    Two radios are available. Track Time is the default option. The Track Time is a read-only field and cannot modify. Only the User Time option can activate and modify.

    Note: Specify different times for the track, especially if you have defined a regrasp in between trajectory points. The Current Move for which the time is applicable is shown in the Current Activity editor. The current move activity highlights in the Human Activity Context window inside the Sequencing tab.

Specify Regrasp Motion Basis or Editing Regrasp Postures

You can specify a regrasp motion or edit a regrasp posture.

  1. Click any command like PUT/USE TOOL/ OPERATE PART and select the object to be manipulated.
  2. Click Regrasp .
    Use the Manikin commands to create the new grasp posture, then record the new posture. You can add as many postures as you need in a single regrasp. See Simulation context toolbars.

    Regrasp Edition: To edit regrasp postures, navigate to the trajectory point after which the regrasp creates. Click the regrasp icon to enter the editing mode. Previously defined regrasp postures start.

    Note: Only one regrasp can exist between consecutive move activities.

Insert Trajectory Point (TP) on a Track Where a Regrasp Is Defined

You can insert a trajectory point where the regrasp defines.

Navigate on the track to a particular TP and from the current TP and insert a TP before a regrasp. All the subsequent move, regrasp, and repeatable sequences have their index incremented as shown.



  • Number 11 stands for Current TP.
  • Number 12 stands for Regrasp at TP3.
  • Number 13 stands for Repeatable Sequence: TP4 to 5.
  • Number 14 stands for Regrasp at TP4.
  • Number 15 stands for Repeatable Sequence: TP5 to 6.

Note: Deleting a TP, all the subsequent move, regrasp, and repeatable sequences have their index decremented. If you delete a TP at which the regrasp defines (for example, TP3 as in image), the regrasp also deletes along with the trajectory point.
