About Text Template Resolution on Electrical Components

A text template is a generic text which can be linked with electrical components.

Every time an electrical component for which a text template has been defined is placed in a diagram view, the text template is replaced by the defined attribute reference.

The attribute can point to the electrical component or to another component.

Electrical Logical Package

For the Electrical Logical package, text templates are resolved in the following cases:

  • When the text template is compatible with the directly linked object.
  • When the text template is not compatible with the directly linked object, a compatible entity is searched through parents or existing links.

Examples of Text Template Resolution

The following examples illustrate the resolution of text templates when there is no direct compatibility:

  • For a wire linked with a cable, the text template is resolved with the cable attribute.
  • For a plug, the text template is resolved with the disconnect attribute.
  • For pins grouped under a connector port, the text template is resolved with the connector port attribute.
  • For cable ends, the text template is resolved with the cable attribute.

Electrical Logical Extended Text Templates Package

The Electrical Logical Extended Text Templates package allows for the resolution of text template for:

  • For the plug port or receptacle port of a disconnect.
  • For terminal blocks and terminal groups.

Text Update

The link between a parent or linked object and the object required to resolve the text may be created after that the text is displayed. In that case, the text is updated when the link is created:
