Defining Contact Part Numbers

You can select the part numbers of contacts from catalogs or libraries, and then retrieves the corresponding logical contact.

Before you begin:
  • Wires must be allocated to cavities.
  • Define a library containing elements with an Electrical Cable Reference type. For more information, see Creating General Libraries and Creating General Classes.
  • Define the classification attributes, and add them to the library and the class. For more information, see classification attributes and Creating Classification Attributes.
  • In the Data Setup > Electrical Specifications Resources resource set, assign an electrical specification resource with the tables and the filter to the Default Electrical Resources.
  • In Engineering Specification Capture & Reuse, create a basic table to list the different types of part types that can be returned. For more information, see Technological Tables.
  • In Engineering Specification Capture & Reuse, create a basic filter for the contact and define the series of the connector for the Parts Filter Description attribute. For more information, see Classification Attributes and Part Filters.
  • In Data Setup, in the Electrical Specification Resources resource set, attach the specification to the List Electrical Specification Resources resource.
  1. Select a harness.
  2. From the Net to Wire section of the action bar, click Select Physical Contact .

Note: You can change the default behavior on the filters using the Compute Contact Part Number resource.

For each physical contact, the corresponding logical contact is displayed on the tree.

The Compute Contact Tree appears. The status of each cavity shows if there are compatible contacts for the allocated cavities.

  3. If some cavities have several contacts compatibles, select one in the list.

Note: You can also choose to not create any contact.

  4. Click OK.
