CAD Model Properties

CAD models are connected to change objects or parts. The CAD Model Properties page can be accessed by clicking any of the Specifications links from the change object or part tabs. Also, when you click a highlighted CAD model name from anywhere in the app, the CAD Model Properties page opens.

To access this page:

  1. Do one of:
    • Search for and select a CAD drawing. See Predefined Queries.
    • Search for and select a part and select the Part Specs & Documents category.
  2. If you access the CAD model from the context of a part, the Files page opens. Click the name of the CAD model to access its Properties page.

The page shows basic details about the CAD model. All fields are read-only. Information may change or be added as the CAD model moves through its lifecycle.

Fields

Field Description
Type The type of specification.
Title The title of the CAD model.
Owner Person who has responsibility for the CAD model.
Design Responsibility The title of the organization that has design responsibility for the CAD model.
Originated Date when the CAD model was created.
Modified Date when any attribute of the CAD model was last changed. The Modified date changes automatically when changes are made to the CAD model attributes.
Description Details about the CAD model.
Model Type The type of model.
Collaborative Policy The policy that controls the lifecycle and access for the CAD model.
Organization The organization title. The organization is based on your login credentials.
Collaborative Space Collaborative Space is based on the login credentials. To change it, you must change your login:
  1. Click > My Credentials.
  2. Change the Collaborative Space.
  3. Click OK.

Design Sync

For specifications and reference documents under DesignSync file access control, the following fields are also included:

Field Description
Selector Name of the DesignSync branch where the file is stored.
Server Name of the DesignSync server where the file is stored.
Path Name of the DesignSync folder where the file is stored.
Author Person who checked in the file.
File Name Name of the file.
Version ID Version ID of the file.
Locked Shows True or False to indicate whether the file is locked or not.

Action Menu and Toolbar

Click any of the following commands from the page Actions menu or toolbar to work with the CAD model:

Command Description
Edit Details To modify the CAD model properties. See Editing Specification Details.
Upload To copy an existing or new file from your local computer and check it into the CAD model. If you check in an existing file, a new version of that file is created.
Update Files To copy a new version of a checked-out file from your local computer.
Download To download the file from the checked item. If more than one item is checked, then all files from all selected items are zipped and then downloaded.
Checkout To download and lock the file from the checked item. If more than one item is checked, then all files from all selected items are zipped and then downloaded.
Delete All Versions Deletes all versions of the selected file. Click OK to confirm.
Transfer Ownership Opens slide-in where you transfer ownership of the CAD model if it is in the In Work or Frozen state. See Moving Content (Transferring Ownership).
Add to Security Class Add the CAD model to a security class.
